A missing man was found deceased after a single-vehicle collision near Heffley Creek on Todd Mountain Road, according to a press release from the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment.
Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSR) was deployed on a search for a missing man Nov. 8 at 1:00 p.m., around the Knouff Lake area. Shortly afterward, the search turned to recovery as the deceased man and his truck were located down a steep embankment. Kamloops city and Tk’emlúps Rural detachment officers were also involved in the recovery.
The press release states the truck was there a few days. Officers believe the man was the only occupant and driver of the vehicle.
“Due to the placement of the collision scene, a section of the roadway was temporarily closed during the late afternoon while police, the coroner, and Kamloops Search and Rescue worked to retrieve the victim from the steep terrain,” said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson.
Paula Davies, president for KSR, was part of the recovery mission. The deceased male was in his 50s and search and rescue located him near the water she told SPIN.
“We know that the family is grieving and our hearts are with them,” Davies said.
Currently, there is no criminal investigation, but police and the BC Coroners Service are seeking more information. Anyone with information that may be related, is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800.
