Sun Peaks Resort LLP (SPR) welcomed a full house at its third annual Community Engagement Session last week, drawing 200 residents, business owners and partners for an evening of updates, conversation and long-term planning.
Led by senior leadership, the session offered attendees an opportunity to meet directly with resort management, ask questions and hear detailed updates on operations, visitation trends, guest experience initiatives and the resort’s future development plans.
“We were very pleased with how the evening went,” Christina Antoniak, director of brand and communication for SPR said. “Attendance sold out again this year and it’s clear the community really values the chance to connect with us and hear about what’s happening behind the scenes.”
Peakscape Report, visitation insights and guest experience upgrades
Among the major topics was the introduction of the resort’s new Peakscape Report, a more than 70-page publication outlining operational highlights, sustainability actions and more.
The presentation also included detailed visitation data from the 2025 summer season covering mountain biking, golf, hiking and more, along with early planning updates for summer 2026. Leadership shared a recap of last winter’s visitation trends, including lift utilization patterns and key market insights.
Guest experience initiatives were another focus. Resort representatives highlighted improvements in the Kids Adventure Zone, upgrades at the Village Day Lodge fire pit area and renovations at the Umbrella Café. New winter activities and dining experiences were also previewed.
Nancy Greene Raine returns in a new role
One of the evening’s biggest announcements was the return of Olympic champion Nancy Greene Raine in a formal capacity with the resort. Greene Raine, who has been a central figure at Sun Peaks for decades, will now lead a new paid experience called Ski with Olympian Nancy Greene, with all proceeds donated to the Sun Peaks Education Society.
“It’s a meaningful way for Nancy to keep doing what she loves while supporting a great local cause,” Antoniak said.
Events strategy and winter campaign preview
The resort outlined its evolving events strategy for both summer and winter. Attendees were offered a first look at a new winter campaign jointly developed by SPR, Tourism Sun Peaks and a Vancouver creative agency. The campaign aims to reimagine Sun Peaks as a key destination in winter market.
Master plan updates and future projects
The session closed with updates on mountain operations, infrastructure upgrades and long-term master plan considerations. Delivered by chief of mountain operations Tim Foster and chief executive officer Darcy Alexander, the segment provided insight into upcoming lift, real estate and commercial development possibilities.
Strong community response
According to Antoniak, feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
“People appreciate having this open door,” Antoniak said. “It’s a chance for us to explain our decisions, update the community on what we’re working on and hear their ideas. The dialog is always valuable.”
Attendees also had opportunities to ask questions during the Q&A period and through a post-event survey. All submitted feedback is being reviewed by the resort’s leadership team.
“We take these conversations to heart,” Antoniak said. “They help shape how we move forward.”
