Where is the support for super-seniors?

Our access to the snow and slopes at Sun Peaks is one of the many pluses of life in Kamloops. It was the big draw that inspired my dad to bring our family here in 1971 from Saskatchewan. He taught his five daughters to ski and now has 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, most of whom are skiers or snowboarders. Four generations of winter recreation enthusiasts.

A year ago, I sent this information to Darcy Alexander at Sun Peaks hoping for a super-senior discount to celebrate my dad’s 82nd birthday. I received no response. This year Whistler, Fernie, Red Mountain and other great resorts are celebrating the vitality of seniors who ski beyond 75 with greatly discounted or FREE season’s passes. The cost to the mountain is minimal and the goodwill is priceless. The rate for all seniors at our local mountain is $559 per year. How can we get Sun Peaks on board with the other great hills?

If you see Norm Atkinson, wish him a happy 83rd skiing birthday!

Laurie Desaulniers, Kamloops
