Mail delivery has often been a bit of a headache for Sun Peaks temporary residents, particularly for seasonal staff or renters, who aren’t able to obtain a mailbox within the village.
Creekside Critters manager Pamela Duncan has recognized the issue, and recently opened The Mailbox in the Fireside Lodge.
“People have said it’s a pain to get down to Heffley Creek to collect (their) mail. For people who are up here without a vehicle it’s a major inconvenience. Weather conditions will get nastier, and it’s not always easy to get to,” Duncan said.
Duncan said the service will operate similarly to mailbox services like The UPS Store, and will offer mailbox rentals from three months to one year.
A three month rental will cost $60, six months will cost $100 and a yearly rental will cost $150. As an introductory incentive, the first 100 people to sign up for a yearly rental will receive a 10 per cent discount.
The Mailbox is open now, and those interested in renting a mailbox should drop into Creekside Critters to fill out an application form.
