Morrisey’s opens

The management team for the Delta Sun Peaks Resort is pleased to announce the opening of Morrisey’s Public House, providing the village’s first UK-inspired pub.

Overlooking the peaks of Mt. Morrisey, Morrisey’s Public House will be a fun, casual eatery where locals can drop in on any given night of the year to surf their laptop with WIFI, play a game of darts, or watch live sporting events in high definition. Morrisey’s Public House menu will feature new interpretations on past pub traditions as well as comfort food that speaks to the local region and will feature a number of popular European draughts on tap.

The official grand opening has been scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23. The grand opening of Morrisey’s Public House coincides with the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay which will be passing through the B.C. Interior during this same weekend. To celebrate both occasions an official 2010 Olympic Torch will be paraded through the village from Mantles Restaurant to Morrisey’s Public House and will then be on hand for this special night allowing chances to hold the Torch and celebrate a historical weekend in Sun Peaks.

“Morrisey’s offers both guests and locals great value and atmosphere. We are excited to finally offer an attractive but inexpensive dining option for the resort throughout the year.” explains Ian Thorley, Director of Sales & Marketing. “In addition to the opening of Morrisey’s Public House will be a Fire Pit on the Mantles Restaurant patio overlooking the slopes. This new ski in/out feature within the resort will prove to be popular with families allowing them a chance to warm up with a hot beverage and open fire right at the base of the runs.”

Activities this year at the Fire Pit will include frozen maple taffy – maple syrup frozen in the snow and rolled on stick, impromptu sing-a-longs, and story telling.

Mantles Restaurant is a popular casual dining venue for both families & friends within Sun Peaks and a fire pit should prove to be popular place to meet during Après Ski. Mantles Lounge offers Sun Peaks only adult oriented dining experience and is located in the Delta Sun Peaks Resort’s lower lobby.
