One of North America’s top amateur ski and snowboard competitions, the Dew Tour Am Series, will return to Sun Peaks on March 27 and 28, 2015.
With a cash purse of $30,000 up for grabs, the top amateur athletes on the continent will be heading to Sun Peaks to throw down their best tricks in the terrain park.
As well as the signature slopestyle event, Mountain Dew is also introducing a big air competition for 2015.
Fans, spectators, guests and locals will have the chance to get in on the action all weekend long, with meet-and-greets with the athletes, Mountain Dew samples, prizes, live DJs and more.
Last year’s event was capped off by one of Canada’s top rock bands, The Sheepdogs, and Mountain Dew has big plans for this year’s event ending concert. An announcement is expected sometime next month.
Neetu Godara, marketing director for Mountain Dew Canada, said they were “incredibly excited” to return to Sun Peaks.
“Canada is stacked with amateur ski and snowboard talent and we’re proud to be able to give them the tools they need to elevate their performance,” Godara said.
The Dew Tour Am Series athletes will also be competing for coveted points on the Association of Freeskiing Professional circuit and the World Snowboard Tour.
Local skiers and snowboarders interested in showing off their skills are eligible to sign up as well. Registration details will be announced soon.
Aidan Kelly, director of sales and marketing for Sun Peaks Resort Corporation, said Sun Peaks was an ideal location for the Dew Tour.
“Sun Peaks’ terrain park is a great venue to showcase Canada’s best emerging freestyle ski and snowboard talent. Plus the free concert and other Mountain Dew events around the village are a great addition for all our guests at the resort,” Kelly said.
