As cooler weather prevails and leaves change colour, there are plenty of events this fall to keep busy. From outdoor adventures to family-friendly events and spooky outings there’s something to please everyone.
Pick a pumpkin:

Spend an afternoon picking the perfect pumpkin at one of the area’s many patches.
Pete Murray’s Farm, open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. welcomes groups of all sizes to find their perfect pumpkin match,
Closer to Kamloops, Tranquille Farm’s pumpkins of every colour are surrounded by buildings steeped with history. Open weekends and Oct.10 from 10a.m. to 4p.m.
Sunset Valley Farm’s wide open pumpkin patch is more than six acres so you’re sure to find your favourite. Open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Get lost:

Wind your way through a real life puzzle with one of the local corn mazes.
Tranquille Farm offers a haunted corn maze every Saturday and Sunday until Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pete Murray’s all new corn maze is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sunset Valley Farm’s six acre corn maze fits all ages. During the day it’s open from 9a.m. to 6p.m. and Oct. 23 to 25 it transforms to a frightening haunted maze with monsters and scary characters. The maze of horrors is open from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
Travel back in time:

Take the time to learn a lesson about local history with a guided tour.
Tranquille Farm offers one and a half hour heritage tours every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The wagon ride tour takes participants on a journey into the history of the farm.
The Tranquille heritage weekend on Oct. 15 and 16 will have vintage tractors and other farming equipment, pumpkin guns and a vintage car parade in addition to the pumpkin patch and corn maze.
For a more immersive experience get tickets to Tranquille Farm’s Tunnel Theatre, an annual interactive theatre event that takes viewers through the famous tunnel system and into many areas of the farm that are steeped in history. This year’s show takes place in 1963 and follows two doctors as they fight over the best treatment for their patient at the Tranquille Institution.
Be spooked:

If you are looking for a scare look no further than one of the haunted houses offered!
Sakred Skin & Studio is presenting their fifth annual haunted house in downtown Kamloops. With kid friendly and extra scary versions there’s a haunted house for everyone. Entry is by donation to the Kamloops Food Bank.
On Oct. 28 to 30 Tranquille Farm will transform a house that once belonged to Dr. Padova into a haunted house where you will come face to face with its spooky inhabitants. Make your way through the corn maze before braving the haunted house.
Run from monsters and ghouls at Sunset Valley farm as its corn maze transforms to a frightening haunted maze with monsters and scary characters. The maze of horrors is open from 7 to 10:30 p.m. from Oct. 23 to 25.
Take a ride:

Trains and wagons around Kamloops get spooky this time of year!
The Kamloops Heritage Railway offers the scary ghost train Oct. 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 6p.m. If ghoulish characters don’t suit you there is also a trick or treat train Oct. 29 at 3p.m.
The Wildlife Park’s miniature train will also be taking passengers on trips around the park for Boo at the Zoo from Oct. 28 to 30. After your ride, meet animals, trick or treat, go through the haunted maze, watch performers and more from 5 to 9 p.m.
Pete Murray’s wagon will be running three times a day, seven days a week to transport you through the farm to pick a pumpkin. Wagon rides also include a stop to visit and feed the sheep.
Clink glasses at Oktoberfest:

If you would rather pick a beer than a pumpkin, Oktoberfest events are for you.
Rocktoberfest hits the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel Oct. 15 at 6:30 p.m. and brings live music from Easy Fix and German food together for a night of adult fun.
If family friendly is more your style head to The Dunes at Kamloops Golf Club on Oct. 23 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for pumpkins, fresh juices, live music, local products and B.C. wines and beers.
Dance the night away:

Don your best costume and attend a local Halloween party to end the month in style.
On Oct. 28 Powder Hounds Halloween Bash will transform the restaurant into a monster bash with live music and prizes.
The following evening on Oct. 29 Bottom’s Bar & Grill will be filled to celebrate Halloween and prizes will be given to the best costumes.
