Twenty-seven teams race for local causes

OSV Training The 17th Annual Telus Nancy Greene Corporate Challenge has resulted in 33,000 reasons to smile for its beneficiaries — the Sun Peaks Health Association, the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation and Sun Peaks Alpine Club.

With 27 teams from around B.C. taking on the dual race course on the Suncatcher run, over $33,000 was raised with the help of 70 volunteers, 10 major sponsors and 100 auction contributors.

While the Sun Peaks Sports School clocked the fastest time of the challenge, the fastest amateur team and winner of the Telus Cup trophy was the Sun Peaks Fire Department, which featured Luke Harrison, Denny Lebourdais, Garrett Fishlock and Alanna Vignale.

The legends category was won by Rosedale One, comprised of Ian McLaren, John McKnight, Petr Duda and Diane Bacon. The McSporties Cup for the Masters Category was won by Rosedale Two, featuring Graham Swann, Neil Otsig, Jeff Garland and Joan Gardner.

Organizers also congratulated the First Nations Snowboard Team who put on a strong showing in their first year participating.
