The community of Little Fort is hosting their 25th annual Polar Bear Dip on Sunday, January 1, 2012 with a bracing swim and warm celebration to bring in the new year.
For the silver anniversary of the Polar Bear Dip, a hole will be cut in the ice of the North Thompson to allow brave souls to jump into the river at noon. Registration begins at 10:30 am at the Little Fort Recreation Hall. Prizes will be drawn, costumes are encouraged, and cash donations will be collected for the Barriere Food Bank. The Little Fort Fire Department will have a big bonfire going to warm up the swimmers and spectators and hot chocolate and donuts will be served.
