Patient tests positive for COVID-19 in Sun Peaks

There is a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Sun Peaks. said Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality (SPMRM) in a statement released March 21.

The individual who has tested positive is in isolation. It is not the same person SPIN identified in a March 20 story about a food and beverage server isolating with suspected COVID-19.

“We also have presumptive cases and more than likely, we also have others who have the COVID 19 virus who are only mildly sick,” the statement read. “Please take this notice seriously, you must social distance yourself at all times. This virus can spread easily through close contact before symptoms are evident. Therefore, these rules are mandatory for everyone to follow even if you feel entirely well.”

Those with symptoms such as dry cough, fever or shortness of breath can call the Sun Peaks Health Centre Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

Patients are asked not to go to the health centre or emergency room if they have symptoms.

“At the moment Interior Health Authority are trying to set up a Respiratory Clinic in Kamloops to help screen people who have respiratory illness. We will notify you as soon as this service is up and running…The Sun Peaks Medical Team is shocked at the number of people still crowded in social gatherings. Please stop this behaviour immediately!”
