Coming to the village Sept. 6 through Sept. 8 is an ArtZone Sun Peaks event that’s not to be missed. The second annual CREATE! Arts and Craft Festival will be providing the village with a weekend of music, art displays and workshops for all.
ArtZone will be welcoming musicians of all different genres to give this event life. Jill Barber will be headlining the weekend with a performance that will break in the new Sun Peaks Centre Stage, in a collaboration with Tourism Sun Peaks (TSP).
“Jill Barber is a singer songwriter, a Canadian who sings in both French and English, and she’s just an amazing performer,” Marj Knive, president of ArtZone said.
Tickets are available online for this show, which will take place at the Sun Peaks Centre Stage.
Art exhibitions, workshops and music
The Sun Peaks Centre will be alive with art, with the Resist Exhibition, according to Knive.
“It’s an exhibition that’s put on by the Fiber Art Network, which is a western Canadian group of artists,” she shared.
For the public, everyone can immerse themselves in the experience with various workshops including plein air painting, scarf marbling, blacksmithing and flower pounding. Some are geared toward kids, teaching them painting and cartooning.
“Those are the workshops that we are really hoping to get people to sign up for,” Knive said. “Otherwise they won’t go ahead.”
Various musicians will also be performing throughout the CREATE! Arts and Craft Festival, including pianists, a floatist, a barbershop quartet and a saxophonist.
These artists are highlighted on ArtZone’s website, including more information on some art displays and workshops.
