New Year’s Eve celebrations

FireworksSun Peaks Resort Corporation (SPRC) will hold an evening of outdoor events to celebrate New Year’s Eve on Wednesday, Dec. 31.

Aidan Kelly, director of sales and marketing for SPRC, said New Year’s Eve is a signature celebration for Sun Peaks.

“It always draws a crowd, and it’s a great family event,” Kelly said.

Events will kick off with the First Flight Big Air Invitational competition from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and will see a number of skiers and boarders taking to the skies.

The Kids Glowstick Parade takes place at 7:45 p.m. and will feature up to 100 children skiing down the Sunbeam run beside the Village Platter. This will be followed by the Torchlight Parade at 8 p.m. — a “breathtaking” display featuring 170 skiers carrying flares down Sundance.
