Returning for its second year, Rockin’ in the Peaks is back on July 3 and July 4 at the Sun Peaks Centre Stage with two days of outdoor rock music featuring Canadian bands, food and more.

Tourism Sun Peaks has partnered with 98.3 CIDM and MRG live with music starting at 7 p.m. Theresa St. Louis, the events manager at tourism Sun Peaks told SPIN.

“We trust that the lineup is going to be the right fit, the perfect draw for the visitors… it fits the genre, it’s exactly what we were looking for,” St. Louis said. Curated by MRG, artists including Kim Mitchell, The Trews, Odds and Barney Bentall will be playing through Friday and Saturday evening.

“[It’s] one of our must-see, must-participate events,” St. Louis said.

What makes Rockin’ in the Peaks different from other summer music festivals in B.C. is the venue, St. Louis said.

“We have such a fantastic, unique venue here,” she said. “It can really facilitate an event in almost any sort of weather.”

Ticket holders are not the only attendees who enjoy the mountainous location, but the talent also enjoy the scenery, St. Louis said.

“The venue and the resort itself is something that’s a delight for them as well.”

There are a variety of options to buy tickets for the weekend including single day tickets and full weekend passes. Sun Peaks insiders can receive 15 per cent off general admission tickets. With the VIP ticket, folks are able to access private indoor washrooms, front row viewing, lounge-style seating, two hours of complimentary food selections, an exclusive entrance to the concert and VIP bar access.

“Key words: fun, welcoming, energizing,” St. Louis said. “We absolutely have the goal in mind for it to be an experience to come to the shows… so people can see more than just the music.”
