Over the Holiday Kick-Off weekend of Dec. 13 to Dec. 15, an artisan market operated out of the Sun Peaks Centre selling unique wares from a variety of vendors.
SPIN joined the hoard of shoppers on Sunday, Dec. 15 and spent some time chatting over a few booths. Though the vendors have since packed up their products and moved on from Sun Peaks, many of the distinctive products can be found online or in nearby stores.
Artisan markets occur often in Sun Peaks during winter and summer seasons and host an array of interesting art, jewelry, food, drink and much more.
Elderberry Fields

Using the immune-boosting properties of elderberries, Elderberry Fields makes teas, tinctures, oxymels, syrups and more, with elderberries or elderflowers as their main ingredient.
At their booth, shoppers were able to taste a tea made from a mix of freeze dried elderberries, ginger and cinnamon with honey as a delightful sweetener.
Not only is the elderberry tangy and sweet, but full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that are said to reduce cold and flu symptoms as one of its main benefits.
Elderberry Fields’ online store is not affected by the Canada Post strike and will be continuing deliveries, with free shipping on orders over $150.
Birch and Tine

Made with deer antler horns, this Kamloops-based business provides shoppers with jewelry pieces that stand out and use a product many people don’t think to use.
The designs portray a rustic theme, with cut pieces of antler horns and unique designs on each handcrafted item, some with real flowers pressed into them.
A range of jewelry produced by Birch and Tine including bracelets and necklaces, with different sizes and accompanying stones, can be ordered online, and sold at other local artisan market booths.
Stained Glass Reimagined

This eye-catching booth sold decorative local stained glass pieces suitable for walls and windows.
Many different designs were on display, from hanging decorations to mountain creations, all inspired by the outdoors.
The artist, Marlie, described a bit about the process while shining a flashlight through some of her mountain shaped glass designs to more prominently draw attention to the array of colours.
Along with glass sheets, she buys rocks and gems to add to the hanging pieces. Her partner makes the wood pieces which hosted the mountains on Sunday.
Though you can buy their art online, the Canada Post strike has affected shipping to non-local locations. However, Tuesdays they will be delivering to Sun Peaks and Wednesdays to Kamloops.
Premium Tallow

At the booth presenting Premium Tallow, an online store, co-owner Kanda was providing samples of buttery tallow balms with the scent of their choosing. Scents varied from comforting cocoa to uplifting magnolia.
Made with Suet Tallow along with other moisturizing ingredients including shea butter, the mix of vitamins and fatty acids contribute to the uses associated with the product, including tattoo care, eczema, blisters and much more.
Suet Tallow is beef fat with unique aspects that other creams and balms may not include. The fat-soluble vitamins support skin repair and boost elasticity while the fatty acids combined with conjugated linoleic acid contribute to intense hydration and long-lasting protection.
