As ski season starts to come to a close, Tourism Sun Peaks (TSP) is putting a new twist on an old favourite food festival.

Sip, Savour and Ski runs at Sun Peaks Resort LLP (SPR) from March 28 to 31, pairing B.C. ski-town fare with beverages and spring skiing. Previously billed as the Sun Peaks Wine and Food Festival, this year’s event highlights non-alcoholic beverages, craft beer and ciders, wine and tasty treats from local chefs.

Theresa St. Louis, events manager for TSP, explained the curated events are spearheaded by stakeholders.

“We actually empowered the stakeholders to present their own product and events,” St. Louis said.

TSP collaborated with various restaurants and brought each establishment’s idea under one festival umbrella.

Events include hot chocolate at cafes throughout the village, each offering its own twist on a winter favourite, from marshmallow magic at Tod Mountain Cafe to a Spiced Salted Caramel on offer at Vertical Cafe, to name a few.

At Cahilty Creek Kitchen and Taproom, there will be wing sampling with craft ciders. Four flavours of wings and four flights of ciders chosen by attendees will be available. Cahilty also has a Fizz & Fries event for fry fanatics.

A wine and food pairing in Sun Peaks Grand Ballroom brings together local restaurants and performances by Dueling Pianos that will delight your ears alongside your tastebuds.

A Taste of Brewhalla at Sun Peaks Centre features live music, beer, ciders and non-alcoholic options, along with food from Ohana’s and Vertical Cafe.

St. Louis said they chose Sun Peaks Centre because of its public nature and sizeable capacity.

“It’s very light and bright, it has good access and good parking,” she said. The ambiance inside will likely be a garden patio-style.
