The hunt is on for Canada’s Next Top DJ

 | June 13, 2012

Do you think you have what it takes to be Canada’s next top disc jockey? Canada’s Next Top DJ launches this month, and electronic producers have the opportunity to showcase their skills and music at one of Canada’s top clubs: The Guvernment Night Club in Toronto, Ontario.

“We’re thrilled to launch the Next Top DJ brand starting in Canada and especially at the Guvernment, a world renowned club,” said Nathaniel Keranovic, CEO and President of Tayo Productions Inc. in a press release from May 16. “We’re already in discussions to bring this competition to the USA and UK. So soon we’ll be able to scout the best DJ/Producers around the world.”

Electronic producers are urged to submit their 10 to 15 minute mix online via SoundCloud where judges Glenn Morrison, DJ Christina Cruise, and Keranovic will pick finalists to perform at The Guvernment on June 22. Following the event voters will submit their picks, and Canada’s Next Top DJ will be crowned. The event will be broadcast live on BPM TV.

The grand prize winner will take home $5,000 cash, and a possible one-year recording contract; second prize will take home $2,000 in Moog audio equipment and the opportunity to do a headlining performance at The Guvernment; third prize will also be headlining a night at The Guvernment.

If you think you have the chops to be Canada’s next top DJ get your submission ready and start thinking about that plane ticket to Toronto. This is no Canadian Idol, but it is a great opportunity to get your music heard by many electronic dance music fans and some of Canada’s top producers.
